I’ve had to take a sick day before because I didn’t have enough gas to make it to school. Right now, I have a broken tooth that I can’t afford to have fixed. My husband and I also started a business leading historical tours in the summer. I work an extra job in guest services at Rupp Arena, sometimes multiple nights a week, making $9 an hour. I’ve been teaching for 16 years, and I make about $55,000 a year. I usually end up spending about $400 every semester. ![]() We’re given about $50 per semester that we can spend on certain things for our classroom, but we always go above and beyond that.
